Summary

Russell and Christine Milne have made considerable efforts to cut down their carbon footprint, by retro-fitting their detached, 1960s bungalow. In 2000 they installed a solar hot water system, to cut down on their use of gas, and in 2006 they installed a solar photovoltaic (PV) unit which generates around 2000 kwh per year of electricity. They have room for another PV panel and hope to install a more modern model in time. They have also made sure that their house is fully insulated.

In the garden, the Milnes grow a range of fruit and vegetables, collect rainwater, and encourage wildlife.
