Architect Johnny Heriz Smith demonstrates how to maximise space, light and solar gain by elegant and effective design, which uses south facing glazing and a new timber frame roof extension creating greater living space in a family home. Other features include high spec rockwool insulation in loft and roof, and cavity wall insulation beads plus solar hot water and wood fire. Solar matting provides heating for an inherited outdoor swimming pool.
